Red Dress Run

A crimson, cross-dressing, annual event not only for the Victoria Hash House Harriers but around the world. Check out the photos and read the write-up by Grateful Head (that would be me) at this site. That was on May 5, and I have since been enjoying the warm, sunny weather with 10k runs at Elk Lake whenever possible. It has been so beautiful here! When I did the Times Columnist 10k race a few weeks ago, I met my goal of coming in under an hour (59:39 to be exact). It's not a record to anyone but me, but very cool in my book! I am hoping to do a half marathon this summer or fall. I haven't run one in a couple of years, since Santa Cruz.

It has been really busy here as we prepare for our field season. Many nights at the office until after midnight and turning around to go back at 6:30 or 7 in the morning. Field work has always been like this though, and I actually love it! I leave for Prince William Sound early tomorrow, where I will be working for several weeks. I'm very excited to see that beautiful place! I will be flying right by calving tidewater glaciers in a helicopter with the door flung off. Very exciting. I will turn 36 in front of the Columbia Glacier!

Stay tuned... I will try to post photos actually taken in the field. Much love and happy mother's day to all the women in my life, especially my own wonderful mum.
