Deep Cove

Spent the week house-sitting at a beautiful place on the water in Deep Cove, near where I live at Land's End. This photo is overlooking the deck and lovely Saanich Inlet. I was taking care of a great dog (Bali) and two pretty cool cats. Bali was a wonderful playmate and running buddy for the week, and the cats were hilarious.

Khyla couldn't get enough of my red grocery bag from Planet Organic

and Bali had a penchant for my running socks.

One of many beautiful sunsets I was treated to here

And a "sculpture" I know somone will appreciate

Run for the Cure

Thanks to everyone who donated to my Run for the Cure fundraising! On October 1, more than 170,000 people participated in 50 communities in Canada, raising $23.4 million dollars for breast cancer research! In Victoria, 5,100 people did the run and raised $490,000! I ran with my little digital camera and took photos... in the picture above, there are people as far in the distance as you can see!

Some other great sights of the day...

Teams showed their solidarity with style!

And with unique names, like "Bosom Buddies"

These women were playing a giant xylophone along the run route. It looked like a lot of work but great fun, and a beautiful sound!

The online fundraising site was definitely the way to go... I raised more money I stated in my goal, thanks to friends and family! I also learned a lot about where the funds go, and how strong the support network is. The run was great, with so much positive energy, fun, support, and encouragement. I met some amazing people, including some wonderful kids. If there is a single word I took away from that day, it was "resilience." It gives me hope for the human race.
