Spirits of St. Louis

Dennis and Julie arrive in lovely, sunny Seattle for a few days' visit. We ate lunch on the waterfront at the world famous Pike Place Market, a marketplace opened 100 years ago by citizens outraged by the cost of onions.

Den and Julie in downtown Seattle on our way to the Space Needle.

The overcast sky lifted shortly after we picked them up at the airport, so we had a beautiful view.

The waterfront of Puget Sound with Shilshole Marina and the Olympic Mountains in the western distance.

Float planes coming and going on Lake Union, downtown Seattle. I fly in here all the time on Kenmore Air from Victoria.

Up on the observation deck enjoying the sun.

We grilled steaks and chicken at Ken's in Brier that evening, and the next morning we were off for the Cascades to get in some spring snowboarding.

Ken waits patiently for us to get ourselves dressed and ready.

Jodi all smiles and ready to board!

Having lunch in the lodge after a few hours on the slopes.

Having dinner at our favorite place in Leavenworth, Visconti's.

The next morning at Ken's in Leavenworth, Dennis "de-tuned" the edges of my snowboard to help me fly more smoothly on the flats. Here's a close-up of his technique...

Den and Julie getting on the lift at Mission Ridge, just east of Leavenworth.

This is Julie and Den coming down the slope.

Julie having a blast!

Jodi appreciating the lovely view...

Ken wondering why we're so slow...

Lovely spot along the river on our way back over the pass, where we stopped at a famous candy store.

Another self-portrait: Ken and me

On D/J's last night in Seattle, Ken took us out for a ride in his collector's edition muscle car to see the Trondheim condos.
